Experience the courageous poetry of first-generation Latin-American poet and activist Cristina Cortez as she explores themes of "curiosity, anger, regret and invincible pride in her heritage"--from her new collection Tawantinsuyu: Poems of the Time of the Inca (2020). Joining in the discussion of the power of indigenous voices, immigration and belonging will be visual artist Maddu Huacuja.

Experience a dynamic performance of Aztec dance accompanied by traditional Meso-American music. Live! Dia de los Muertos:  A celebration of Life, Justice, and Humanity in a time of COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter

Learn about the cultural significance of the different components that make up a traditional Dia de los Muertos altar.  The theme for the altar building will acknowledge the current social context of the global health pandemic and this civil rights moment.  Join in as we create a shared visual celebration together!  Facilitated by teacher and artist, Rosalba Solis.
