BHCC Student and Staff Honored by MWPHE

On November 1, 2019, Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) student Angelica Cabrera and Jillian Glaze, Director of Financial Aid, will be honored by the Massachusetts Women in Public Higher Education (MWPHE) at the organization’s annual conference.

Cabrera will receive the Student Achievement Scholarship Award. The award recognizes the outstanding achievements of female students who are educated in the Massachusetts public higher education system. Glaze will be named the 2019 Phenomenal Woman, an award given to a “phenomenal” woman who goes above and beyond the call of duty, who is admired by her colleagues, inspires others and is a highly regarded individual who works tirelessly on behalf of the college community.

Angelica Cabrera attends Bunker Hill Community College where she is majoring in psychology. She decided to attend Bunker Hill because of its affordability. Angelica faced many hardships growing up and Bunker Hill opened many doors for her. She has made the most of her academic career and has excelled greatly. She volunteers at Boston Cares which helps children, homeless individuals, and HIV/AIDS patients. Angelica plans to become a doctor and specialize in infectious diseases.

Jillian Glaze is the Director of Financial Aid at Bunker Hill Community College where she helps students navigate the challenging task of paying for college. She is passionate about the positive impact financial aid can have on community college student success and believes in fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Jillian holds an M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University and a BA in French from St. Lawrence University. She is currently serving on the College Board Forum Planning Committee, as well as the Planning Committee for Prepárate: Educating Latinos for the Future of America. Outside of work, Jillian enjoys yoga and curling up with a good book.
