Katie Colello and Learn and Earn Program Receive Spotlight Award

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) Learn and Earn Internship Coordinator Katie Colello accepted the Strong Women in Action (SWIA) Spotlight Award on behalf of the College’s Learn and Earn program and the BHCC Foundation at the SWIA Annual Gala, held virtually on November 13, 2020. SWIA is dedicated to building a strong and effective network of partners and aims to empower families and break the cycle of family poverty in Massachusetts by promoting pathways to economic independence.

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) Public Safety and Campus Police Department believes in fair and impartial policing in serving the diverse community at BHCC. As communities across the United States continue to contend with racism, the department supports the College’s mission to confront racial injustice. Understanding that transparency builds trust, the department created the Proactive Integrity Initiative that includes a Police Transparency and Accountability website.

MA Student Advisory Council Scores Victory for Part-Time College Students

On Friday, December 11, Governor Baker made a change in state law that will allow the growing number of part-time students on public college and university campuses to serve as representatives of their student bodies. With two-thirds of Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) students enrolled part-time, this progressive decision allows both full and part-time students to be involved in the BHCC community.

Heading Home Responds to Call for Help in Partnership with Bunker Hill Community College Emergency Shelter for Women During COVID-19

With temperatures dropping and the impact of COVID-19 settling in on the poorest in our community, the demand for a good night’s sleep in a warm bed continues to rise. In response to a call from multiple state agencies and in conjunction with several key partners, Heading Home has stepped up to launch and oversee a 48-women’s only overnight shelter located at Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC).

On October 16, 2020, participants from around the world joined the Montgomery County Community College 2020 Technology and Learning Conference virtually. This year’s technology conference centered on the classroom in a virtual world, enhancing the student experience, technology beyond the classroom and what it means to be in the year of learning.

Bunker Hill Community College Receives 10-Year Accreditation from NECHE

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) received a continuation in accreditation status from the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). The accreditation establishes that the College has demonstrated itself to be educationally effective and a good steward of public resources. NECHE accreditation encompasses the entire institution and is a critical eligibility requirement for student access to federal financial aid as it allows BHCC to participate in Title V Pell grant funding. Over 60% of BHCC students receive financial aid to complete their studies. The continuation in accreditation will dramatically increase access and degree completion.
