How do I know if this is the right format for me?
CSDL classes are different from traditional classrooms. Success in these courses requires a great level of organization, self-motivation, and time management. It is important you set up your own study schedule and keep up with all the assignments and deadlines. If you are not sure whether this format is right for you, please feel free to contact us to schedule an appointment with one of our course facilitator to see whether this format meets your personal needs and your learning style.
How do I start my class?
You must attend a virtual mandatory information session before you start your classes. In a 20-30 minute session, your instructor will provide you with information about the course, its syllabus and expectations. You must begin immediately once you have completed your orientation.
When do these classes start?
CSDL classes begin at the beginning of every semester. If you register after the semester has started, you must start the course IMMEDIATELY.
What is the difference between a CSDL class and an online class?
CSDL courses are asynchronous courses where students work independently without interaction between peers. There is no need for students to attend a series of meetings. Instructors are available, virtually or in-person, from Monday to Friday to help students with their courses.
Can I finish CSDL courses early?
Students are encouraged to finish their coursework early. As soon as you finish the course requirements, your facilitator will submit your final grade, and you will no longer be responsible for the weekly check-ins requirement.
Are the fees and credits same as a traditional class?
Yes, tuition and credits for CSDL classes are the same as classroom courses.
Are these courses transferable?
Yes, CSDL college courses have the same transferability as in-class courses. They are listed on the transcript in the same manner as in-class courses. The transcript does not distinguish between a CSDL class and a classroom class.
Do the classes require a textbook?
Many of the CSDL courses will require textbooks just as traditional in-person courses.
Is there any help available?
Yes, instructors and tutors are available to assist you. Please check your syllabus for your instructor’s schedule.
Do I have to be there every week?
CSDL classes require weekly check-ins, in-person or virtually. Students are welcome to come to the Center for in-person check-ins, or use the available space to study.
