Winter Session FAQ's

Yes, if you are a financial aid recipient, Winter Session charges can be covered by your spring financial aid award.

You can pay in full at the time of registration or set up a payment plan.

The tuition for Winter Sessions course are the same as the Spring Term courses.

Yes, book vouchers will be available in mid-December.  Students with book voucher eligibility will see their available amount in self-service.

You may purchase your textbooks by visiting the BHCC Bookstore website at https://www.bhcc.edu/bookstore/

All orders must be placed online as the Bookstore on campus is not open. Books and materials you order will be shipped to you at the address you provide.

Due to the expected higher than normal volume of shipping during the holidays with UPS and FedEx we suggest you order your books as early as possible to avoid any delays. Anything ordered and shipped after December 18 may not arrive for the start of your class.

The last date to register for Winter Session courses is January 4, 2024.

Yes, you can audit a Winter Session course. Students who want to audit a course must obtain written permission from the Student Central Office. Students who audit courses pay full tuition and fees. The audit request must be made at the time of registration, and once approved may not be changed to a graded course. An audit course may not be transferred or used toward graduation requirements.

Yes, there is a limit of one Winter Session course.

Yes, but permission is needed from the Dean of Enrollment Management.

To request permission to take more than one Winter session course, please send an email to wintersession@bhcc.edu. In your email please include the following information:

  • First and Last name
  • BHCC ID number, if you know it
  • Name of the additional course you wish to enroll into

Currently enrolled BHCC students should speak with their advisor before requesting to take an additional winter course. BHCC students should log into BHCCSelfService to view the contact information for their advisor.

No, all Winter Session courses are offered fully online.

If you do not drop courses before the deadline of January 4, 2024, you will be charged a percentage of the tuition and fees, depending on the date you drop the course. For more information visit Student Payment.

The College is closed December 24, 2022, through January 2, 2023. The College will reopen on January 3. If you have questions about your Winter Session courses, please send an email to wintersession@bhcc.edu.

Students can obtain a copy of their course syllabi on the first day of winter classes or sooner if the instructor has chosen to make it and other course material available earlier. Syllabi will be available when you log in to your Moodle course site beginning at 12:10 a.m. on January 3. Some instructors may choose to make their course materials available early. Click here for information and instructions on How to log into Moodle. The on-campus Tutoring and Academic Support Center (TASC) will be closed during winter session. Your instructor may provide access to Smarthinking online tutoring service.

Students who are seeking tutoring support for their winter session courses are encouraged to contact their faculty instructors to learn what academic support resources are available for their individual courses.

Students also have access to online tutoring through AIDE Resources.

Winter Session courses are entirely online and require a substantial time commitment from students. You can expect to spend approximately 45 hours on coursework for every course credit. A three-credit course would require about 135 hours over a 20-day session. You should feel confident in your ability to navigate an online course management platform, use digital tools and software (e.g. uploading files and using Microsoft Word) and be available to work on your class for at least 6-7 hours per day before signing up for a winter course.

No, Winter session courses are web-based with no scheduled face-to-fact or virtual meetings. Course materials are fully online and students complete coursework according to a syllabus provided by the instructor. If there is an assignment due on the day the College is closed, your instructor should provide instructions. 

The last date to drop winter courses is January 4, 2024.

The last date to withdraw from winter courses is January 12, 2024.

Winter courses end on January 19, 2024.

Grades can be accessed through BHCCselfservice by January 23, 2024.

Current BHCC students, new students and non-matriculated/guest students can enroll in Winter Session courses.

Successful completion of a Winter Session course will be calculated into your GPA at the end of the Spring Semester.  You must enroll in 12 hours in addition to the Winter Session to be eligible to participate in Athletics for NJCAA teams.

You will need a library barcode which can be found on your 'BHCC ID card'. Students can also get a library barcode without an ID card or having to come to campus; after your term has begun you can fill out the online form request form and a library login will be emailed to you.

Veterans are eligible to enroll in a Winter Session course. Your benefits will be adjusted to reflect your taking one course during the Winter Session.
