New Student Convocation is a two-hour event that takes place before the start of classes each semester. We will welcome you to the BHCC Community, celebrate the start of the new academic year and connect you to programs and resources to support you on your academic pathway. You can expect music, food, activities, and great conversations with current students, faculty, and staff from BHCC's diverse community. Join us for your chance to win great swag, engage in conversations, and begin your journey at BHCC! You are also welcome to bring any friends, family or loved ones who are sharing this experience with you.

To help welcome you to campus, we have created the following Virtual Orientation to help provide you with an overview of everything new students should know when they come to the college. Please use the following link to access the presentation: https://www.bhcc.edu/orientation/

When classes begin each semester, Student Activities presents a series of activities to help welcome you to the college and give you the most up-to-date information about everything going on at BHCC.  During the first two weeks, New Student Mentors staff a Welcome and Information table in the Main Lobby to help answer any questions you might have and help you find your way around campus.

You will find information on different College resources, club information, upcoming events, and we always have some giveaways to help make your first days on campus as festive as possible.  New Student Mentors will answer any questions you might have, help you find your way around the buildings, and will help make your first days on campus both festive and informative.

There are so many ways to get involved at Bunker Hill Community College! Whether it be through student clubs, mentoring, volunteering, or internships, we have many opportunities for you to have more fun, meet new people, and experience new opportunities while you’re a student.

During the third week of classes each semester, the Student Activities Office present Student Involvement Fairs to showcase many of the ways you can get involved on campus and in the community. These fairs are a great way to check out what we offer on-campus and meet students with similar interests, so you can begin to build your social and professional network at BHCC. Specific dates and times for each fair will be communicated to you through weekly updates that will be sent to you through the BHCC email.

When you come to Bunker Hill Community College, it is not just you who walks through the door; it’s everyone who shares this experience with you. To celebrate completing the first six weeks of the semester, Student Activities presents Family Day. Family Day is a free event, and usually happens on the 3rd Saturday of October. This is open to all BHCC students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the college (anyone you consider to be your family). The BHCC Gymnasium is transformed into a Multicultural Marketplace, highlighting many of the cultures on campus. There is food from around the world, live music, as well as pumpkin painting, mask making and other crafts and games

As the semester comes to an end, Student Activities brings the best of the winter season inside the campus. The Winter Wanderland brings together live music, a health fair, poetry reading, Toys for Tots and other festive celebrations, to celebrate the end of the Fall Semester as one community.

To celebrate the end of the Spring Semester and Academic Year, we present a huge celebration for the entire college community. This is a true community event! You can look forward to live music, novelty events and good food.  We usually present activities, including a photo booth, t-shirt factory, fortune telling, and more!

Every year, you can look forward to events like festivals that celebrate cultures from around the world, workshops on how to develop your skills and network professionally, speakers from local, regional and national levels who share their experiences with students, and fun activities that brighten your day and enrich your life. Always be sure to check out the bulletin boards and TV monitors throughout the campus, as well as your Bunker Hill email account for updates on what is happening each week.
