Dear BHCC Community,
As part of the campus-wide Restroom Renovation project, we wanted to make the community aware of some upcoming changes to restroom availability on the Charlestown Campus.
As you may know, the College has embarked on a multi-phase project to upgrade restrooms and to create additional ADA compliant, gender-inclusive restrooms throughout our campus. The College is committed to providing safe and accessible campus restroom facilities to all members of our community. We encourage individuals to make choices about restroom usage based on their own level of comfort and their gender identity or expression. Our goal is to provide restroom facilities that meet a full spectrum of needs.
Beginning on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, all D-Building restrooms will be closed for renovation. We expect the renovations to be complete and to reopen the restrooms by early September. We are working on all of the D-Building restrooms simultaneously because the facilities are stacked vertically on floors 1, 2, and 3. While these facilities are closed, signage will be placed to direct users to available restroom. The closest restrooms to the D-Building are located in the E-Building.
The following restrooms are currently available:
E-Building – both men’s and women's restrooms on floors 1,2,3 & 4
G-Building - single-occupant/gender-inclusive restrooms on floors 1 & 2; both men’s and women's restrooms on floors 1
B-Building – one temporary, gender-inclusive multi-stall restroom on floor 1; men’s restrooms on floors 1,2, & 3; women’s restrooms on floors 2 & 3
Beginning on Wednesday, materials will be delivered to campus and temporary walls put in place to separate the work area from the hallway. As with many projects, there may be noise and dust generated during the demolition process, which our teams will work to mitigate as much as possible. Please understand this process is difficult and at times will be disruptive.
The restroom renovation project signifies another major step forward to achieving renewal of the BHCC physical plant. In the coming weeks, you will receive an update on plans for the Restroom Renovation project as well as construction of the new Academic Student Success Center.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we work to make this a better, more inclusive learning environment for the BHCC community.
