November 15 at 1 p.m. | A Conversation with International Education Advocate Dr. Angela Miller “Gaining a Competitive Edge in the Global Marketplace”
Students attend college because they hope their degrees will open doors, leading to better career opportunities and higher incomes. The increasing demand of employers who seek graduates with both hard and soft skills reveals that obtaining a college degree is not enough to be competitive. Today’s employers seek graduates with career skills gained through life experiences such as studying abroad. Throughout the pandemic, we have all seen the interconnectedness of the human condition and the critical need to understand people from different cultures to address the challenges facing humanity. International education plays a key role in preparing graduates to not only differentiate themselves in the global marketplace, but also to navigate life in an interconnected world. Join us in a discussion on the impact and importance of International Education!
Dr. Angela Miller, Associate Director, Faculty-led Programs, Academic Programs Abroad, Louisiana State University, earned her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership at Northern Arizona University. Her doctoral research focused on global learning in the undergraduate curriculum. Over the past 14 years of her career in International Education, Dr. Miller has served in various leadership roles, making an impact in study abroad. Prior to joining the LSU community, she served as Director of Education Abroad and Liaison for the Diversity Leadership Council at Case Western Reserve University and Director of Study Abroad and Liaison for Outreach, Diversity, and Inclusion at the University of Florida. She also served as the Assistant Director of Education Abroad, Coordinator for the Global Learning Internationalization initiative, and Coordinator of Faculty-led programs at Northern Arizona University.

Dr. Miller will discuss how the global nature of knowledge and learning in the 21st century requires a re-definition of classrooms and learning environments that recognizes how knowledge production today is a collective, global, and diverse process. She will conclude by revealing how a global learning framework has benefits beyond teaching and learning and how it can contribute to the deliberate internationalization of higher education.
