Bunker Hill Community College Fall Enrollment Breaks Another Record

With more than 12,000 students enrolled for the fall semester, Bunker Hill Community College has increased enrollment for the tenth fall semester in a row, BHCC President Mary L. Fifield announced this week. “Compared to this date last year, our current enrollment represents a 12% increase,” Fifield said.

To accommodate the growth, BHCC is offering five midnight classes, up from two in the fall of 2009, and three in the spring semester 2010. BHCC was the first in the nation to offer midnight classes last fall and began with College Writing I and Introductory Psychology. This fall, BHCC is offering College Writing I, as well as College Algebra, Introductory and Advanced Psychology, and Introductory Sociology with a total enrollment of 79 students.

At BHCC this fall, courses in the sciences, engineering and English are the most popular, followed by business administration and behavioral science.

This semester, more than 400 U.S. veterans have enrolled at the College, up from 355 in the spring 2010 semester. Bunker Hill Community College was founded in 1973 in a new campus built for 2,600 with classes Monday through Fridays. The College now operates seven days a week, almost around the clock, and offers online courses as well.
