National Radiologic Organization Honors BHCC Students

Thursday, May 15, 2014

Two Bunker Hill Community College students will participate in the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) Student Leadership Development Program. Brenna K. Lapsley and Said M. Belkouch are two of only 75 radiologic science students nationwide chosen to participate in this year’s program.

Described as “exceptional students” by Donna Misrati, chair of the College’s Medical Imaging Department, Belkouch and Lapsley will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting, June 26-29 in Orlando, Florida. In addition, the students will take two courses and be assigned professional mentors during the House of Delegates meeting.

“We look forward to providing a great experience for the students, including a chance to get to know the ASRT, attend educational sessions and network with medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals,” said Becky Apodaca, ASRT Practice Standards and Chapter Manager.

The ASRT represents more than 152,000 members who perform medical imaging procedures or plan and deliver radiation therapy treatments. The Society also provides radiologic technology students with the tools, services and support they need to prepare for careers in medical imaging and radiation therapy.
