Bunker Hill Community College Student Lands Prestigious State House Internship

Daniel Kuol Paac, a history and government major at Bunker Hill Community College and a native of Sudan, will intern at the Massachusetts State House beginning September 12 as part of the Governor’s Internship Program. In a highly competitive application process Paac was one of only two Community Affairs interns accepted into the program for fall 2014.

Paac, who was BHCC Student Government Association president from May 2013 to July 2014, will work 10 to 15 hours per week through early December. He will work with Director Anny Jean-Jacques Domercant on Office of Community Affairs initiatives, among other directives. The Office of Community Affairs supports active civic engagement and community-based participation, and serves as the primary outreach vehicle of the Executive Office.

“Daniel has a passion to serve the community and speak for those who can’t speak for themselves,” said BHCC Internship Programs Coordinator Marcea Taylor, who helped Paac prepare for the three rigorous interviews the State House required. Paac will also attend legislative hearings and public events at the State House and across the Commonwealth, assist with correspondence, conduct research, provide community outreach, maintain the office’s database and plan and staff events.
