“Accreditation is really about reflecting on what we’ve done and determining where we go from here as an institution,” said President Pam Eddinger. “It requires asking ourselves if we are meeting the needs of our students, the needs of our faculty and staff.”

Provost James Canniff, M.Ed., spoke to the importance of faculty and staff participation and the critical role of students in the process. “This work and this process will help shape our future,” said Dr. Canniff. “We need to think more about what we do and how we can better serve our students.”

Drawing from the work of author and world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck and colleagues Mary Murphy, Jennifer Chatman and Laura Kray, morning roundtable discussions focused on how institutions of higher education may shift from being an organization with a fixed mindset to one with a growth mindset.

Following the morning presentations, faculty and staff participated in a World Café format series of breakout sessions discussing indicators specific to each of the nine NEASC Accreditation Standards. The afternoon closed with an overview of NEASC 2020 Timeline and an open call for feedback from the College community.
