President Eddinger Addresses Mental Health and College Students on WGBH-TV

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) President Pam Eddinger appeared on WGBH-TV’s (Channel 2, Boston) public affairs program “Basic Black” on Friday evening for a special segment on mental health and college students and the specific issues students of color are faced with.

President Eddinger joined host Callie Crossley and mental health professionals who work with students at Boston University, Boston College and the Boston Arts Academy to discuss predictors for mental illness among students and treatment barriers.

“We need to take on a wellness perspective to make sure that the potential of our students are preserved,” said President Eddinger, “That’s not the way many look at mental illness or challenges within communities of color and that attitude has to change if we’re going to invest in cultural wealth instead of deficits.
