BHCC Student Nickoliss Twohads Honored as Newman Fellow

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) student Nickoliss Twohads was honored as a Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact, a Boston-based nonprofit organization working to advance the public purposes of higher education.

BHCC Student Nickoliss Twohads Honored as Newman Fellow

The year-long fellowship program recognizes student leaders who demonstrate a commitment to finding solutions for challenges facing communities locally, national and internationally.

Through his civic leadership and activism, Twohads has made a positive impact in Boston. As a City Year AmeriCorps service member, Twohads mentors students in math and English Language Arts at the Lilla G. Frederick Pilot Middle School. He also demonstrated his commitment to the community, organizing with the Boston Teacher Union’s Poor People’s Campaign to raise minimum wage.

In his personal statement, Twohads states: “These experiences inform my values and beliefs that the world can become a better place when all are treated with compassion, respect and equitable.”
