BHCC’s VP Administration & Finance John Pitcher Selected As HUB Leader NACUBO Ascendium Student Success Grant

Thursday, September 10, 2020

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) John Pitcher, Vice President, Administration & Finance, is among business and academic leaders selected to participate as a HUB Leader for the planning and implementation of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) Ascendium Student Success Grant, a $1.1 million planning grant from Ascendium Education Group. This grant will develop an infrastructure for a multi-institution, multi-initiative process focused on student success at colleges and universities. The grant will fund NACUBO’s work with institutions that enroll high percentages of typically underserved students, including community colleges, smaller, rural institutions, and small to mid-size public institutions.

NACUBO’s work will establish collaborative practices for academic leaders to identify and realize how their institutions can learn financially sustainable practices and achieve returns on investment (ROI) by funding student success reforms.

“This nation-wide project comes at a crucial time in higher education,” said BHCC Vice President John Pitcher. “This data will guide the institutions and create strategic investment models that help our students succeed.”

As a HUB Leader, Pitcher will play a key role in guiding virtual ideation exercises to identify and analyze opportunities for change, and ultimately design business models that achieve more equitable student completion rates. Insights will be gathered from approximately 100 institutions. Findings from the project will be presented in July 2021.
