BHCC Workforce and Economic Development Offers Cybersecurity Training
Friday, January 29, 2021
Workforce and Economic Development at Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) is pleased to collaborate with Socratic Arts, a leader in cybersecurity training and education, to offer a Cybersecurity Training Certificate program starting March 9, 2021. The Program is a progression of three courses designed to impart a strong foundation of defensive cybersecurity skills in 18 weeks of study at 25 hours per week. The program includes three courses, each lasting six weeks:
- Cyber Attack and Defense: Learn to think like an attacker by exploiting a website. They investigate a defense contractor’s website surreptitiously, fix a vulnerability, and remove malware. Students analyze network traffic moving in and out of a military aide’s personal laptop.
- Cyber Defender 1: Learn advanced network traffic analysis, log analysis, and triage of malicious activity.
- Cyber Defender 2: Learn digital forensics and incident response.
Students work through 10 tasks (spending 1-2 weeks per task) online in a private cloud environment with help, advice, and feedback from a knowledgeable mentor and extensive online learning resources. The tasks are embedded in the realistic, but fictional, context of work as an entry-level employee of a government cyber operations agency.
“The program offers students a hands-on approach that allows them to develop the skills needed to be successful in the field of cybersecurity,” said Kristen McKenna, Dean, Workforce Development at BHCC.
