College’s first new building in a decade reaches construction milestone
Construction of the new Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) Academic Student Success Center is well underway, with the final beam put in place during last week’s topping off ceremony. The center is BHCC’s first new building in more than a decade and represents the latest of several campus renovation and rejuvenation projects. Once complete, the 53,500 square foot space will house a variety of services including academic advising, counseling, and student affairs.
Members of BOND Building Construction, the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM), NBBJ Architects, BHCC Provost James Canniff and Assistant Dean of Students Will Cribby as well as members of the the BHCC Student Government Association, including student body president Justin Muñoz, vice president of academic affairs Courtney C. Obiajulu, and senators-at-large, Analee Ashmarah, Yeojin Yoo, and Tyler Brenard all took part in the ceremony, signing the steel beam and watching on as it was lifted into place by members of the Local 7 Ironworkers union.
The Student Success Center is scheduled to open in 2025.
