Wednesday, August 14, 2024

Bunker Hill Community College’s (BHCC) Performing Arts Department and The Record Co. (TRC), a Boston-based non-profit that offers a community music workspace to local artists, are teaming up to offer a course in music production using TRC’s state-of-the-art facilities in Boston.

TRC StudioThe MUS-171: Intro to Music Technology course is open to the TRC community and BHCC students and will promote a hands-on learning experience and reach the diverse student population that TRC serves. This partnership is a pilot program with the potential to expand in the following years.

“This valuable partnership with TRC will enhance student learning outcomes and provide access to more current and advanced technology with a welcoming space to record and rehearse,” said Soo Park, BHCC Dean of Humanities and Learning Communities.

Located at 960 Mass Avenue in the Newmarket neighborhood, TRC serves as a community center for students and professionals in the music industry and hosts nearly 1,000 reservations for 3,500 unique community music makers each month. The course is open to current BHCC students (both music majors and non-majors) and TRC community members. Students already enrolled in a degree program can register for this course in BHCCselfservice. Members of the public can enroll as guest students by visiting bhcc.edu/gueststudents.
