Unless your book is covered by the tuition, you will need to purchase your book separately. Certain Community Education (CE) courses require book purchase from the college bookstore while other courses require you to purchase the book elsewhere. The information on this page shows you courses that requires a book purchase and how to obtain them, as well as courses that do not require a book purchase.
Community Education courses requiring a book purchase from the college bookstore
The courses below require a book purchase from the college bookstore at the Charlestown campus. Buying the book from the college bookstore ensures that you have the right book for your course. You may buy the book online or in person. Find your book from the online college bookstore.

Instructions to find and purchase your book from the college bookstore
Order Your Book Online
Visit https://bhcc.bncollege.com/
Once on the BHCC Barnes & Noble site, follow these steps:
- Under “Course Materials & Textbooks,” select "Find Course Materials."
- Under TERM, select the current semester from the drop-down menu.
- Under Department, find and select your course. For example, if you registered for the TEAS Reading and Grammar course, choose TRG.
- Under Course #, select the appropriate course number.
- Under Section, choose the section you registered for.
Don’t remember either the course number or section?
Refer to your enrollment notification email that was sent to you when you had registered for the course. You will find you course number and section there. After making your Department, Course #, and Section selections, click “Retrieve Materials”. Choose Use or New and then click “Add to Cart”. Then Click, Proceed to Cart. View Your Order Summary, and if it is right, click “Proceed To Checkout”.

Buy the Book In-Person
The bookstore is located at E-120, (first floor of the E-building, Charlestown campus, located at 250 New Rutherford Avenue in Charlestown, MA. Before going to the bookstore, visit their store operating hours.

Once you purchase the book, do not break the packaging until after the class has started. If the course is canceled, the college bookstore will only accept book returns if it is still wrapped in its original packaging.
Language Institute Students
- Intensive English Students: Purchase your book at the college bookstore.
- BELL students: All BELL levels (Basic through Level 4) can purchase their required textbook at the college bookstore. If you are a Somerville grant funded student, please reach out directly to Sonia Sharma, Administrative Assistant, at ssha4746@bhcc.edu to pick up your textbook.

The e-book is embedded into the course start up instructions. Please check your Spam Folder to check if the email got diverted there.

If your class is Moodle-enabled, you must set up your BHCC account to access your course in Moodle. To set up your BHCC account, please see the step-by-step visual instructions.
