Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Thirteen Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) alumni transferring to the College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University this fall will be awarded $5,000 scholarships. The BHCC graduates will be honored at a scholarship reception at Northeastern University on August 29th.

The scholarships will be awarded to BHCC students who, based on their transcripts and application essays, were selected by a scholarship review committee at Northeastern University.

The scholarship reception, which will be held in the Raytheon Amphitheater of the Egan Research Center at Northeastern University, will include opening remarks by the Dean of the College of Professional Studies and Vice President for Professional Education, John LaBrie, Ed.D. and a student speaker. Northeastern University accepts more transfer credits from BHCC than from any other institution of higher education, according to Kristy Gentes, admissions recruiter at Northeastern University College of Professional Studies.

BHCC students transfer to a range of institutions of higher education, including Massachusetts public universities, the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Michigan, as well as private colleges and universities such as Amherst, Emerson, Mt. Holyoke, MIT, Smith and Wellesley.
