Pinning New Graduates of the Medical Imaging Program
On Wednesday, May 17, 2017, Medical Imaging Program graduates celebrated the completion of their studies at their Pinning Ceremony, a time-honored imaging school tradition dating back to the beginning of the twentieth century. Forty-eight graduates received pins to mark their passage from student technologist to clinical practitioner. The pins depict a caduceus, the symbol of healthcare, and are designed in gold-plate with a red stone for BHCC’s program.
Scholarships and Awards Ceremony Celebrates High-Achieving Students
On May 18, 2017, Bunker Hill Community College honored high-achieving students with scholarships and awards as student after student ascended the stage to be recognized for outstanding academic achievement or service to the community. Family and friends filled the College Gym and cheered enthusiastically as students received hard-earned recognition.
Pinning Ceremony Marks the Passage from Student to Nurse
On Wednesday, May 17, 2017, thirty-six graduates of BHCC’s Registered Nurse program received pins to mark their passage from the student role to the practical role. The tradition of the nursing pin and the ceremonial pinning originated in the 1860s at the Nightingale School of Nursing at St. Thomas Hospital in London. The pin of each school of nursing is unique, and only graduates of that school may wear the pin as a statement that they have completed that program. BHCC’s pin is a hexagon depicting the Bunker Hill monument.
BHCC Celebrates Adult Basic Education Student Achievement
On Saturday, June 17, in historic Bellingham Square, Chelsea, Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) returned to its former Chelsea Campus to celebrate the students completing their coursework in the Adult Basic Education (ABE) program. BHCC President Pam Eddinger and Alice Murillo, Associate Provost of BHCC’s Chelsea Campus, welcomed family members, guests, faculty and staff to the celebration in recognition of the 231 students and their achievements.
