BHCC’s Workforce and Economic Development Division Celebrates the Class of 2024

Bunker Hill Community College’s (BHCC) Division of Workforce and Economic Development (WFED) celebrated the graduation of 435 students at their annual Achievement Ceremony on June 8. 

Held at the College’s Charlestown Campus, the event recognized the accomplishments of students from 22 diverse programs, including English Language Learning, Certified Nursing Assistant, Cybersecurity Training, and more. Notably, the ceremony highlighted the success of the Rapid Recovery and Reemployment Programs, with the majority of graduates being women of color over 30 years old. Reflecting on her immigrant background, BHCC President Pam Eddinger inspired graduates to support future generations of immigrants. Jennifer Hassel, Executive Director of the Chelsea Chamber of Commerce, delivered the keynote address, encouraging graduates to seize opportunities and continue their educational journeys.

Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, James Canniff urged graduates to build on their achievements and persist in their educational pursuits. The ceremony also featured moving speeches from three student representatives, Camila Rezende dos Reis, Diana Alas Martinez, and Edgar Hernandez, each sharing personal stories of overcoming challenges and achieving their goals. Rezende dos Reis spoke of learning English to engage more in her son’s education. Alas Martinez recounted her determination to complete the Hi-SET program despite early motherhood, and Hernandez, who recently passed the Master Plumber exam, expressed his hopes for future entrepreneurial success. The event underscored the transformative impact of BHCC's workforce and community education programs on students' lives.
