Student Club - Sustainability

Sustainability Club
Meets weekly (TBD) from 1-2:15 p.m. in G140.

The Sustainability Club is a student-run organization supported by BHCC’s Student Government Association. The club serves to engage students in peer-to-peer education about sustainability, promote sustainability initiatives for the entire college community, and to set an example for environmental conservation.

The club has four main campaigns: Rethink the Way You Eat (sustainable eating), Rethink the Way You Drink (bottled water reduction), Rethink the Way You Commute (student focused alternative transpiration), and Rethink the Way You Use (recycling and waste reduction). In addition, the club has initiated or participated in the following:

  • SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference
  • B2Green Event
  • Environmental Movie Screenings
  • Urban Gardening Events
  • Meatless Mondays on Campus
  • Casella Recycling Tours
  • Tree Planting Events
  • Hosting Environmental Speakers on Topics Ranging from Recycling to Community Supported Agriculture to Ocean Pollution
  • Carbon Footprint Events
  • Dissemination of “Going Green” Campus Survey
  • Earthfest 2011
  • Farmshare Fair
